Compete in Intense Thrill Ride Racing Action With Accolade's Test Drive 6; Top-Selling Racing Franchise Adds New Car Physics, Interactive Environment and New AI.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1999--

Accolade, a leading publisher and developer of video game software, announced today its next version in the largely successful Test Drive racing franchise, Test Drive(R) 6.

The game will be available for the PlayStation(R) game console See video game console. , Sega(R) Dreamcast(TM), Nintendo(R) Color Game Boy, and personal computer in the fall of this year.

"Playing Test Drive 6 is like being behind the wheel of an amazing sports car in a big budget Hollywood movie chase scene," said Chris Downend, executive producer of Test Drive 6. "The game possesses nonstop racing action with incredible speed and jumps."

Test Drive 6 has a completely revamped physics model, which will give each car in its class a specific driving style and handling model. As players win races, they are able to upgrade their cars, with five upgrades available per car. The game will feature interactive driving environments that will include breakable objects, unexpected obstacles and nerve-racking shortcuts See Win Shortcuts. . Cars will race through outdoor cafes in Paris, France, crashing into tables, causing them to fly into the air, or swerve to avoid alligators in the Louisiana swamplands There are many swamps in Louisiana. For an example, Martin Lake is one of them. Swamplands are no more than just marshes with many different kinds of shrubs and trees. The game's artificial intelligence (AI) is completely new, allowing each computer driver to react uniquely to different situations. The Test Drive cop mode has been enhanced for Test Drive 6. The new "all units" AI features multiple cop chases that have more than one cop car chasing the opponent or more than one cop chase taking place at one time. Police helicopter cars will also track down the player at night and alert patrol cars as to where to pull over the player.

Test Drive 6 will showcase high-resolution graphics with advanced Environment Mapping(TM) that display reflections, shadows and shading when cars pass particular objects such as bridges or trees. All cars in Test Drive 6 have new "skins" which make the car appearance far more realistic than previous Test Drive games. Test Drive 6 will also feature environment-specific sounds that will pinpoint particular sounds as they occur at designated sections of the track. For example, music will blast out of a nightclub as cars drive by on downtown metropolitan streets.
