The Green Grid is a global consortium of technology leaders dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and computing computing - computer  eco-systems. In addition, Compellent has been chosen to showcase its storage technology as part of the Eco-Friendly Zone in the Inside Innovation Pavilion at Oracle[R] OpenWorld 2007 taking place Nov. 11 - 15.

"We are thrilled that Compellent's technology will be featured in the Eco-Friendly Zone at Oracle OpenWorld. In combination with our membership with The Green Grid, it shows Compellent's true focus on increasing energy efficiency in data centers," said Larry Aszmann, chief technology officer and co-founder of Compellent. "As a member of The Green Grid, Compellent will continue to contribute as an active participant creating and offering energy-efficient, virtual data center technology."

Oracle OpenWorld attendees can see how Compellent storage technologies enable the "green" data center and meet with product specialists at Compellent's Eco-Friendly Zone booth (display no. 3) in the Moscone North-Upper Lobby Exhibition Hall at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden , Nov. 11 - 15, 2007. Compellent is also demonstrating its storage area network (SAN) validated with Oracle Unbreakable Linux at booth no. 1930 in the Partner Solutions pavilion in the Moscone South Exhibition Hall.

Compellent's SAN can help companies enhance the efficiency of data storage and overcome the challenges created by unrestrained data center growth. By combining technologies such as automated tiered storage Automated Tiered Storage is a product from Compellent. It stores information in a database in such way, that information searched for more often is moved to a different tier, producing faster search results. , thin provisioning Thin provisioning[1] is a mechanism that applies to large-scale centralized computer disk storage systems, SANs, and storage virtualization systems. Thin provisioning allows space to be easily allocated to servers, on a just-enough and just-in-time basis.  and storage virtualization Treating storage as a single logical entity without regard to the hierarchy of physical media that may be involved or that may change. It enables the applications to read from and write to a single pool of storage rather then individual disks, tapes and optical devices. , Compellent helps enterprises better utilize capacity and decrease storage costs, and consequently minimize the costs of powering, cooling and housing equipment. As a result, companies can drastically reduce total data center costs while also slashing slash·ing
