Compatible Systems Adds RSA Data Encryption to VPN Line; IntraPort VPN Access Servers to Feature RSA's Cryptography for Enhanced Security.
Compatible Systems Corporation, the industry leader in hardware-based Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), today announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with RSA Data Security, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:SDTI).
Under the agreement, Compatible Systems will embed RSA's BSAFE(TM) Crypto-C software in its IntraPort family of VPN Access Servers as part of X.509 digital certificate integration.
The IntraPort family is a full line of hardware-based VPN products for Internet-based remote access and site-to-site networking applications over broadband connections such as xDSL and cable modems or standard dial-up and leased lines.
RSA key-based encryption is widely used to provide added security to data streams crossing public and private IP-based networks. RSA supports all major cryptography methods and is fully compatible with the IPSec protocol widely used by VPN product manufacturers.
"As VPN technology matures we believe that manageability will become increasingly important," said Matt McConnell, President and CEO of Compatible Systems Corporation. "By integrating RSA technology into the IntraPort family we're adding another method of user authentication to a list that already includes RADIUS and SecurID."
"Air-tight security is a necessity, not an option, for businesses utilizing the Internet as a secure transmission medium," says Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing for RSA and Security Dynamics Technologies. "By integrating RSA's BSAFE Crypto-C software, Compatible Systems is proving its commitment to offering customers the greatest level of security available today."
RSA's BSAFE Crypto-C software is one of the world's best-selling cryptography engines and provides software developers with multiple algorithms and modules for adding encryption and authentication features to applications.
BSAFE software includes modules for popular security encryption techniques, such as RSA, DES, RC2, RC4, RC5 and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and also supports digital signatures and certificates.
IntraPort Family of VPN Access Servers
The Compatible Systems IntraPort family of VPN Access Servers is a full line of VPN hardware solutions designed for organizations of all sizes. All of the IntraPort products provide secure Internet-based remote access and LAN-to-LAN connectivity, with full routing capabilities, for mid-size and large corporate networks.
The line supports from 64 to 40,000 remote client connections and from 16 to 512 LAN-to-LAN connections, and includes a PCI-based Triple DES co-processor that dramatically improves throughput in high-level encryption applications.
