Both the RISC Router 3500R and the RISC Router 2600i feature 4 high-speed synchronous V.35 and V.11 connectors supporting speeds to 1.544 Mbps. All WAN ports may be used at full bandwidth simultaneously, allowing remote user dial-in or multiple remote network and/or Internet connections. Or they may be bonded. The routers support local connection to an Ethernet network via 10BaseT or thick Ethernet.

The RISC Router 3500R features IPSec-compliant VPN capabilities, including DES 56 encryption, along with full packet filtering for all supported network protocols.
