Deicing can be accomplished by mechanical methods (scraping), through the application of heat, by use of chemicals designed to lower
 products by an average $4 per ton for the 2007-2008 winter season. This price increase, which will take effect on June 1, 2007 on all North American shipments, is being introduced to offset increased energy, logistics and raw material costs. This follows a $1 per-ton price increase in April on Dustgard[R] liquid magnesium chloride dust-control products. Compass Minerals is the leading producer of magnesium chloride in North America.
