Compass Minerals More Than Doubles Document Storage Business Through Acquisition.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Compass Minerals (NYSE: CMP) has acquired Interactive Records Management (IRM), a London-based document storage firm, for approximately $7 million plus up to $2 million over the next 24 months contingent upon achieving revenue goals. The all-cash transaction was effective January 12, 2007 and is expected to be accretive in its first year. In 2006, IRM posted revenues of approximately $5.1 million.

IRM will become a subsidiary of DeepStore Ltd., a Compass Minerals company that stores documents in excavated areas of the company's 160-year-old rock salt mine in Winsford, England. IRM has two sites in the London metropolitan area that will provide same-day document retrieval and a full range of records management services to London businesses. The Winsford site in northwest England will continue to provide cost-effective same-day document retrieval service to businesses in northern England and next-day retrieval service to businesses throughout the U.K.

On November 1, 2006, Compass Minerals acquired its joint venture partner's share of DeepStore, so its revenues were not consolidated in the company's financial statements prior to that date. DeepStore's 2006 revenues totaled $3.9 million.
