Compass Capital Funds Announces Early Year-End Capital Gains Distributions for Bond and Equity Funds.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1997--Today, the Compass Capital Group announced capital gains estimates for all equity and bond portfolios of the Compass Capital Funds (see attached for dividend payment schedule and preliminary estimates). Please note that the attached reflects preliminary estimates. The information presented is subject to change.

Capital gains distributions are made by mutual fund companies when they have net gains from the sale of securities held within their portfolios during the fiscal year. Depending on the amount of time a security is held by the fund, the gain is qualified as either short-term Short-term

Any investments with a maturity of one year or less.


short-term

1. Of or relating to a gain or loss on the value of an asset that has been held less than a specified period of time.
 or long-term Long-term

Three or more years. In the context of accounting, more than 1 year.


long-term

1. Of or relating to a gain or loss in the value of a security that has been held over a specific length of time. Compare short-term.

Declaration Schedule

The year-end distribution schedule is PROJECTED to be as follows (dates subject to change):

ALL EQUITY PORTFOLIOS

-- Record date: November November: see month.  5, 1997. Shareholders "of record" on this

date will receive the distribution.

-- Ex-dividend date Ex-dividend date

The first day of trading when the buyer of a stock is no longer entitled to the most recently announced dividend payment ( i.e. the trade will settle the day after the record date, too late for the buyer to appear on the shareholder record and receive the dividend.
