by President George W. Bush, and to commemorate this event, Compass Bank is offering small business owners free business checking good for three years if certain qualifications are met, says John L. Holt, Compass' executive vice president and head of its small business group.

"Compass has focused on serving small businesses since its founding some 38 years ago," said Holt, "almost as long as the President and the Small Business Administration have been observing and celebrating the important contributions of this group of business men and women. Over the years, Compass has developed and implemented a number of small business products that are tailored to the needs of these business people. Equally important, we couple these innovative products with a hands-on, personal approach to customer service."

There are an estimated 25 million small businesses in America, employing more than half of the country's private work force. Small businesses create three out of four new jobs in this country, and generate a majority of American business innovations.

"This group demands and expects a banking relationship with an institution that is as innovative and responsive as they are in running their businesses," said Holt. For details on Compass' free small business checking account and other products and services for the small business owner, stop by any Compass Banking Center or call 1-800-COMPASS.
