Compass Bank Expedition Investment Grade Bond Fund Ranked Among Top of Class for the Overall Period Ending March 31, 2003.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2003

Compass Bank announces that its proprietary Expedition Investment Grade Bond Fund - Class A (Ticker SBGIX) ranked fifth out of 385 bond funds in the Lipper Intermediate Investment Grade Debt Funds comparison group based on 12-month performance. The fund returned 13.71 percent compared to the average of 9.97 percent for the period. In addition, the fund ranked in the top 20 percent for the five years ending March 31, 2003.
