Compass Bancshares increases annual dividend record 22 percent.

The increased quarterly dividend of $.28 per share is payable on April 1, 1995, to all shareholders of record on March 15, 1995.

This marks the 14th consecutive year that Compass has increased its dividend and the second consecutive increase in excess of 20 percent. At year-end 1994, the company reported record net income per common share of $2.68 up 13 percent over the prior-year -- the seventh consecutive year of record earnings.
