Compaq Names Edward M. Straw Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 8, 1998--In a move designed to continue to enhance its distribution and delivery model, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) today named Edward M. Straw to the position of Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management.

Straw will be responsible for reengineering, integrating and implementing the supply chain elements of Compaq's business, from demand-forecasting through sourcing, production planning, manufacturing, order processing, distribution and logistics.

Pfeiffer also said that in order to maximize the efficiencies of Compaq's world-class manufacturing systems and processes within the company's expanded approach to supply chain management, the company's Manufacturing and Quality organization, led by Senior Vice President Greg Petsch, will become part of Straw's broad supply chain management organization.

Straw joins Compaq from Ryder Integrated Logistics, Inc. -- a $2 billion logistics services company -- where he served as president. Previously, Straw was Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Defense Logistics Agency, and spent 35 years in the U.S. Navy in various commands focused in the area of logistics.
