) today announced that it has formed an alliance with Crucial Technology, a division of Micron Technology Micron Technology ("Micron") NYSE: MU is a multinational company based in Boise, Idaho, USA, best known for producing many forms of semiconductor devices. This includes DRAM, SDRAM, flash memory, and CMOS image sensing chips.  (NYSE: MU) to supply standard system memory for Compaq's Presario 5300 Series and provide a 15% off coupon for memory upgrades on all Presario Desktop Internet PCs.

Crucial will supply Compaq with 64MB memory kits that are standard on all Presario 5300 Series models. Crucial's memory is standard on Compaq's popular Presario 5304, which is aggressively priced at $499 and includes key features such as a Cyrix MII 1. (body) MII - A consortium of Microsoft, IBM, and Intel.

2. (storage) MII - A broadcast component video tape format licensed by Panasonic.
(TM), 366 MMX (MultiMedia EXtensions) A set of 57 additional instructions built into the Pentium MMX chip for improved multimedia and modem performance by performing mathematical operations on multiple sets of data at the same time (see SIMD). Crucial is also providing 15% off upgrade coupons with all Compaq Presario Presario is a series of desktop computers and notebooks from Compaq. The Presario family of computers was launched for the consumer marketplace in September 1993. Although HP has since acquired Compaq, the Presario name was not discontinued due to its marketability.  Desktop Internet PCs for those consumers who wish to add larger levels of system memory to their PC and take advantage of significant cost savings. The 15% coupon is located in all Presario Desktop Internet PC boxes and can be fulfilled via Crucial's toll-free number (1-800-336-8916) or Web site (www.crucial.com/compaq).(b)
