Further enhancing the unmatched performance, features and flexibility of its comprehensive enterprise printer lineup, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) today announced worldwide the addition of six new printer solutions for enterprise customers. Included in the announcement are two new dot matrix printers, three new line matrix printers and one new laser printer. These new printers provide an even wider selection of performance, features and flexibility for enterprise customers who demand high-speed, high-quality printing solutions that often must integrate with multiple network environments.

Printing Solutions for Every Need

Today's announcement includes a variety of printing solutions, adding to Compaq's diverse printer lineup. Included in the announcement are the following products:

-- LA450 and LA700 Dot Matrix Printers. With fast, quality printing

at speeds up to 450 and 700 characters per second, respectively,

these printers offer best-in-class forms printing including

multiple paper paths and automatic paper push.

-- LG05plus (LGL5plus with pedestal mount), LG10plus and LG15plus

Line Matrix printers. Delivering up to 1,500 lines per minute in

draft mode (LG15), these are the only printers that offer DEC

ANSI and Printronix graphics language (PGL) or Magnum Code V

graphics language (VGL) industry standard emulations.

-- LNM40 Laser Printer. Providing up to 40 pages per minute and up

to 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution, this new laser printer offers

large capacity input/output and flexible paper handling for a

variety of media sizes.

Designed to Integrate in Mixed Network Environments

Because enterprise customers' facilities often comprise multiple divisions and workgroups with diverse network protocols and various operating systems, Compaq has uniquely designed its printer solutions to integrate into these heterogeneous network environments. To mitigate this hassle, Compaq ships Remote Control Print Management Software (RCS) with our laser printers. The LNM40 laser printer comes with the software, which enables systems/network administrators to centrally find, configure, monitor and manage all SNMP printers on their TCP/IP network. The software is a graphics tool that gives administrators instant access to printer information and the ability to solve problems quickly without the overhead of visiting each and every printer.

The LNM40 also ships with the new Compaq Advanced Controller Architecture, which enables the LNM40 to generate up to 50-percent greater throughput than competitive models and maximize printer resources by performing multiple processes simultaneously. In addition, the controller allows faster print speeds, higher resolution, cross-platform migration and open access to evolving multifunctional document handling technology.
