) will manage this common network computing infrastructure for all Chevron companies worldwide, resulting in greater infrastructure reliability and estimated cost savings of $50 million per year -- mainly through reduced support requirements and overall lower total cost of ownership of all products on the network. Having a common infrastructure for all Chevron companies will also lead to greater adaptability of the company's technology to business changes.

The Compaq ProLiant 2500 and 5000 Servers

The Compaq ProLiant 2500 server is targeted at departmental and remote/branch office sites, which often lack on-site MIS support. It supports up to two 200MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Pentium Pro processors and is ideally suited to handle departmental database, Internet or intranet applications. The server ships with a built-in remote management feature, called Integrated Remote Console, which provides continuous access to the server from a centralized MIS location.

The Compaq ProLiant 5000 server delivers midrange systems performance and capabilities at about half the cost of proprietary systems. The server is ideal for intranet, Internet, database, data warehousing, order processing and other transactions or compute-intensive applications.
