Compaq's AltaVista Acquires 10% of Virage, Inc.; AltaVista Partnership Accelerates Virage's Strategy to Make Searchable Video Pervasive On the Internet and Corporate Intranets.


INDIAN WELLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 1999--Virage, Inc. today announced that Compaq Computer Corporation (company) Compaq Computer Corporation - The largest US manufacturer and vendor of IBM PC compatible personal computers and servers. Compaq was started in 1982 by three ex-Texas Instruments employees.

 Ventures. The announcement was made at the DEMO 99 conference, where Virage is launching its AudioLogger(tm) application.
