Prestatyn Retail Park, just off Nant Hall Road, has been subject to a number of complaints from residents since Somerfield left the site a year ago.

Complaints have been raised about the overall impression it gives of the town, with piles of bricks dotting the landscape.

Vale of Clwyd MP Chris Ruane Christopher Shaun Ruane (born 18 July 1958, Rhyl) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He is Labour member of Parliament first elected in 1997, for the Vale of Clwyd, which includes the seaside towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn.  has taken up these concerns with the company responsible, Stadium Developments, who have confirmed they are now in the process of screening off the offending material.

Alex Clare, spokesman for Stadium (Prestatyn) Ltd, said: "Whilst I appreciate the site may appear untidy to local residents the material has been stockpiled for a specific purpose and is fully secure and safe.

"We have therefore arranged for debris netting to be applied to the fencing along Nant Hall Road to partially screen the site from residents during the interim of any works recommencing.

He added: "This will not fully screen the site as an element of transparency is necessary for security reasons, but it will detract de·tract

Mr Ruane welcomed the move but said he hoped it was a short-term measure.

"I am pleased that Stadium has responded positively to the request to improve the screening around the site," he added.

"This is an important route into the town and this site combined with the Tesco site on the High Street is creating a very bad impression of Prestatyn."
