Company promises a creative Indian spring.


Indian arts company Manasimitra is celebrating spring with a series of events.

The Dewsbury-based company is holding a series of dance and music events to bring traditional and contemporary Indian arts to Kirklees.

On April 26, they will have guest performer Bombay Jayashri giving a concert at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an open-air art organisation, showing work by UK and international artists, including notably Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.

The park is located in West Bretton, Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, England.

Bombay will be launching her new book, Voices Within, at the concert, which starts at 7pm.

Bombay is a renowned for her Carnatic music - a classical style of Indian music, which is performed in singing style even on instruments.

On May 26, Manasimitra will present an event called Sura Sura (srä`), river, c.540 mi (870 km) long, rising E of Penza, S central European Russia. It flows generally north to empty into the Volga River.  Vara Vanditha at Cleckheaton Town Hall.

The event will include a performance of folk theatre from south India called Yakshagana, which explores the tales of the god Krishna and the traditions of ancient India.

Children from Kirklees schools will take part in the performance, which will be followed by a recital by TARANG, the South Asian Youth Orchestra The Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) was founded by Yehudi Menuhin and Richard Pontzious, with its inaugural concerts held in August 1990, conducted by Yehudi Menuhin

The 100 members of the AYO are among the finest young musicians from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China,
.

On June 17, there will be a folk dance event called Jhumroo. Folk dances from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamilnadu will be performed at Cleckheaton Town Hall.
