Company clinches pounds 1.5111 deal to deliver directories; IN ASSOCIATION WITH Rensburg Sheppards Birkenhead firm second largest distributor.

DIRECT marketing firm Linkdirect has won a pounds 1.5m deal that makes it the second-largest distributor of telephone and business directories in the UK.

There are engineering, food-processing and clothing plants.  business has been appointed by Thomson Local Thomson Local is a local business telephone directory published in the United Kingdom by Thomson Directories Ltd. It is the principal rival (and for the 1980s and some of the 1990s the sole rival) to the Yellow Pages (published by Thomson as the Thomson Yellow Pages until it was  Directories to handle the door-to-door deliveries of 66 of its 173 directories across the country.

In April the company scooped a pounds 4m deal to deliver BT Phone Books in 30 areas of the UK from Scotland to South Wales South Wales south nsud m du Pays de Galles .

In recent years it has been increasing its share of the directory delivery market and works with all main directory producers.

This year it will also deliver 50 different Yellow Pages directories to 7.6m households across the UK.

Linkdirect was founded in 1995 by Mr Roxburgh, Mr Rand and fellow director Kaye Smith. It delivers directories, leaflets and free newspapers around the country.

The company employs more than 20 permanent staff and uses thousands of temporary staff to deliver products.

As well as its head office, it also has a Hampshire Hampshire, county (1991 pop. 1,511,900), 1,503 sq mi (3,893 sq km), S central England. Winchester is the county town. The terrain is undulating and is crossed by two chalk downs, rising in places to more than 800 ft (244 m).  sales office and a transport depot in Cheshire with full warehousing facilities.

Linkdirect's clients range from English Heritage English Heritage is a non-departmental public body of the United Kingdom government (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) with a broad remit of managing the historic environment of England. It was set up under the terms of the National Heritage Act 1983.  and all major political parties to BT, Spar, and Eurotunnel.

It is a founder member of the Direct Marketing Association's Door-to-Door Council and a member of the Institute of Sales Promotion The Institute of Sales Promotion is an organisation in the UK that represents brand owners, agencies and service partners engaged in promotional marketing. Formed in 1933, it was established as the ISP in 1979 and provides professional diplomas and certificates, best-practice  and of the Institute of Direct Marketing.
