Company Watch -- JetBlue Airways.May 21, 2007 JetBlue Airways operator of the world's largest Airbus A320 fleet, has been recognized with the prestigious Airbus Award for Operational Excellence. The award honors the low-fare, low-cost airline for having the world's best A320 technical dispatch reliability among carriers with a fleet size of more than 50 aircraft. JetBlue received the award at the biennial Airbus A320 Family Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand, where it was also recognized for having the highest daily aircraft utilization of any Airbus A320 operator. May 15, 2007 David G. Neeleman, the founder of JetBlue Airways, reluctantly agreed to step aside as the company's chief executive Thursday. The move marked a turning point in the short history of the upstart airline, but it also gave new life to recent speculation that the low-cost carrier might be a candidate for a takeover. JetBlue's shares rose 4.7 percent after the move was announced. May 14, 2007 Neeleman's resignation fuels takeover speculation for JetBlu The decision to name a new CEO at JetBlue Airways has fueled speculation that the airline may be a takeover target. Observers have speculated that Delta Air Lines or Southwest Airlines could be interested in JetBlue. A JetBlue spokeswoman declined to comment and said the airline has no interest in merging or developing code-sharing partnerships.
