Northwest Airlines appeared to reach a major breakthrough toward emerging from bankruptcy earlier this week when it secured a tentative agreement on $195 million in annual cost cuts with its flight attendants. Yesterday it reached a tentative agreement on wage and benefit reductions with its flight simulator flight simulator, device providing a controlled environment in which a flight trainee can experience conditions approximating those of actual flight. A simulator generally consists of an enclosure housing a working replica of the interior of the cockpit of an  technicians, the final group of unionized workers from whom it was seeking cuts. Northwest Airlines filed documents with the US Bankruptcy Court bankruptcy court n. the specialized Federal court in which bankruptcy matters under the Federal Bankruptcy Act are conducted.
