Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S.  lands $636 million Navy contract. The Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman a six-year, $635.8 million contract to further develop the X-47B fixed-wing unmanned air system. The program will allow the contractor to conduct takeoffs and landings from the Navy's nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. Northrop Grumman will build two X-47B aircraft for the Navy, with the first flights expected in 2009. Aug 7, 2007
