Boeing said Thursday it delivered 97 commercial airplanes in the second quarter, bringing its total at the year's midway Midway, island group (2 sq mi/5.2 sq km), central Pacific, c.1,150 mi (1,850 km) NW of Honolulu, comprising Sand and Eastern islands with the surrounding atoll. Discovered by Americans in 1859, Midway was annexed in 1867. A cable station was opened in 1903.  point to just under half its full-year forecast. The world's No. 2 maker of commercial planes behind Airbus now needs 200 deliveries in the second half of the year to meet its estimate of 395 in 2006. The second-quarter total was its highest since 2002, when it delivered 112 during the period, and 12 higher than a year ago. Boeing confirmed that Las Vegas-based Primaris Airlines Primaris Airlines is an American charter airline based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It operates domestic and international services. Its main base is McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas.  had canceled its commitment for 20 of Boeing's new 787s. In 2004, Primaris, which aims to provide business class-only service, became the first U.S. carrier to pledge support for Boeing's fuel-efficient 787. The new plane is scheduled to enter service in 2008. But Boeing spokeswoman Yvonne Leach said Primaris never submitted a firm order, and canceled the commitment altogether several weeks ago. Boeing has 360 firm orders for the 787, plus 43 commitments, but most of those are with overseas carriers. Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines are the only two U.S. airlines that have firm orders for the plane. Jul 6, 2006
