China Southern Airlines China Southern Airlines (中国南方航空公司) (SEHK: 1055, NYSE: ZNH) is an airline based in Guangzhou in the Guangdong province of the People's Republic of China.  has outlined its strategy to seize a greater share of the international cargo market. It will begin by converting six Airbus A330 passenger aircraft into freighters over the next two years in addition to taking delivery of six Boeing 777Fs in 2008-10. It intends to add to its domestic network but will commit most of the increased capacity to international routes. It aims to build a medium-haul network in the Asia/Pacific region with the reconfigured A330s and expand its long-haul network into Western countries with the 777s and the two 747s that constitute its current freighter fleet. Dalian, Guangzhou and other cities in the Pearl River Delta The Pearl River Delta Region (PRD) in China occupies the low-lying areas alongside the Pearl River estuary where the Pearl river flows into the South China Sea. Since the "Open Door Policy" was adopted by the Communist Party of China in the late 1970s, the portion of the delta in  region will serve as hubs for medium-haul flights while Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen will operate as its global hubs. Kingfisher Airlines is likely to stagger taking delivery of Airbus aircraft it had ordered as its recent stake acquisition in Deccan Aviation altered demand outlook, its chairman said on Tuesday. Last month, Kingfisher agreed to buy a 26 percent stake in Deccan Aviation, a budget carrier that has been making losses. It is also offering to buy 20 percent more from minority holders of Deccan to fulfill regulatory requirements. The two firms together have a fleet of 71 aircraft.
