Members work in Washington, Kansas, Oregon, Utah, Texas and California. Formed in 1946, SPEEA is an affiliated local union of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) is a 75,000-member trade union affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress. The IFPTE was founded on July 1, 1918, as the American Federation of Technical Engineers. . As a professional union, we negotiate contracts and provide representation to members at work and to help them navigate workplace and benefit issues. Working from our headquarters in Seattle, we also maintain offices in Everett, Washington and Wichita, Kansas. The union is governed by an elected Executive Board and Council.
