Company Licenses for TAPPI Test Methods and Technical Information Papers--online now!

* Frustrated frus·trate
tr.v. frus·trat·ed, frus·trat·ing, frus·trates
1.
a. To prevent from accomplishing a purpose or fulfilling a desire; thwart:
with having to replace your set of Test Methods or TIPs every two years?

* Frustrated because the set of documents are continually updated, making even the newest set out of date by the time it is published?

* Concerned about staying within the copyright laws regarding ethical and fair use of documents?

Your company can provide all employees with up-to-date access to the most current TAPPI TAPPI Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry  Test Methods and Technical Information Papers by purchasing a TAPPI Company License for Test Methods and Technical Information Papers.

With a Company Licenses for ALL TAPPI Test Methods and Technical Information Papers, your company will have immediate access to more than 500 individual Test Methods and TIPs. The benefits of a Company License include:

* Total access by all employees at any time

* No need for individuals to purchase separate copies

* No worries about violating copyright laws-full company access gives a company the right to print or share any of the documents internally without having to obtain copyright release

You can even choose how you want to use the Company License--over the Internet or by installing a CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.
CD-ROM
in full compact disc read-only memory

Type of computer storage medium that is read optically (e.g., by a laser).
. The Internet option ensures that all employees in your company will have instant access to the most current version of all Test Methods and TIPS, plus no software is needed. Or, you can choose to install a CD on your internal system and update it every six months with a new CD (the annual fee for CD-based access is higher than the web access fee to cover costs of producing the CD).

Test Method and TIPs CD-ROMs for individuals will continue to be available, but as in the past, they are designed for one user on one computer. It is a copyright violation to share the information beyond the primary user. The print version of the full sets will continue to be available, but on a print-on-demand basis. Companies will find that hard copies of these documents can be more economically obtained by printing them from their own system by permission through the company license.

The pricing is based on either number of employees or number of locations. Find out which would be most beneficial for your company by contacting tmtipsales@tappi.org, or calling +1-770-209-7287.

Individual Network Licenses: Individuals may also access the Test Methods and TIPs online for an initial annual fee of $250 (member) or $375 (list). The documents accessed in this fashion are licensed for only the use of the individual, and a password to access the system may be needed. To find out more details or to place an order, please email tmtipsales@tappi.org, or call +1-770-209-7287.

Test Methods--Useful Methods

This volume is the final publication of Useful Methods, which were comprehensively reviewed by technical experts in 1991. These procedures were intended to help members measure certain properties of the products and materials they manufacture using simple laboratory procedures, even if not as precise and accurate as the Official or Provisional Methods. They have not been reviewed or sanctioned by TAPPI technical groups, as have the Official and Provisional Methods.

Each card is produced on Kodak photographic paper, using a Douthitt contacting frame with an Olite light source and Olite light integrator (1) In electronics, a device that combines an input with a variable, such as time, and provides an analog output; for example, a watt-hour meter.

Size Estimation Charts Transparency

Developed from and based on the TAPPI Dirt Estimation Chart, this transparency is used to measure the size of spots, defects, or inclusions over the range of 0.02 to 5 [mm.sup.2] in paper and other industrial materials such as textiles or plastics. Instructions for use of this transparency are outlined in TAPPI Test Method T 564. The chart can be used in a large number of applications where there is a need to estimate a size (area) by way of a direct comparison to a known area. Applications may include, but are not limited to, the measurement of visible ink spatter spatter,
n droplets of airborne particulate matter larger than 50 μm that fall to the ground.
on printed surfaces, the estimation of the growth rate of bio-colonies, air inclusions in transparent plastic castings and films, etc. The chart must not be used to estimate the equivalent black area (EBA EBA Eisenbahn-Bundesamt (German)

EBA Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (Australia)

) of dirt or other colored specks (use the TAPPI Dirt Estimation Chart for this purpose or use image analysis).

TAPPI Calibration calibration /cal·i·bra·tion/ (kal?i-bra´shun) determination of the accuracy of an instrument, usually by measurement of its variation from a standard, to ascertain necessary correction factors.  Plates to be used with Test Method T 563

Improve your image analysis testing capabilities with the Calibration Plates for use with TAPPI T 563 "Equivalent Black Area (EBA) and Count of Visible Dirt in Pulp, Paper, and Paperboard paperboard, material similiar in shape and composition to paper, but generally thicker, stronger, and more rigid. Use of image analysis equipment provides a more accurate dirt count than the visual method using the TAPPI Dirt Chart. TAPPI Calibration Plates can be used with either camera-based or scanner-based instruments. TAPPI Calibration Plates are inspected and measured at the PAPRICAN PAPRICAN Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada  laboratory. The sizes of the dots are precise and within specifications; however, the grayness of the 16 dots may be lighter than the grayness of the square at the edge of the plates.
