The Guayaquil Guayaquil (gwīäkēl`), city (1990 pop. 1,508,444), capital of Guayas prov., W Ecuador, on the Guayas River near its mouth on the Gulf of Guayaquil, an inlet of the Pacific Ocean. brewer controls 6% of its domestic market, although AmBev estimates it could supply 30%. AmBev says its purchase price includes spending to restructure the Ecuadoran company's debt.
