CompUSA INC. AUTHORIZED TO RESELL IBM COMPUTERS AND PERIPHERALS

 DALLAS, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- CompUSA Inc. (NYSE: CPU), America's largest Computer Superstore retailer, today announced that it has been authorized by International Business Machines Corporation to be a reseller of their PS/1(TM) and ValuePoint(TM) lines of desk-top microcomputer systems, Thinkpad(TM) and PS/Note(TM) notebook computer systems, and the Easy Options(TM) line of microcomputer peripherals.
 "This agreement enables CompUSA to significantly broaden its product offering to include virtually all of the major brands of microcomputer systems," said Nathan Morton, chairman and chief executive officer of CompUSA. "It also enables CompUSA to market these IBM products through all of our retail locations, as well as through our corporate and government sales groups. We expect IBM to begin shipping products to our stores this month.
 "We are excited about adding the IBM line of products in our stores, especially some of the more popular lines such as the PS/I, Thinkpad and ValuePoint systems," said Morton. "CompUSA's Computer Superstores, with their large product assortment and deep-discount prices, have the potential to significantly enhance IBM's microcomputer sales across the nation."
 CompUSA Inc. currently operates 58 high-volume Computer Superstores in 32 major metropolitan areas throughout the United States. Its Computer Superstores offer more than 5,000 microcomputer products, including hardware, software, accessories and related products, at deep- discount prices to retail, business, governmental and institutional customers. They also offer full-service technical departments and classroom training facilities.
