CompUSA INC, TO OPEN THREE COMPUTER SUPERSTORES IN FEBRUARY, INCLUDING RELOCATION OF ORIGINAL ATLANTA SUPERSTORE

DALLAS, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- CompUSA Inc. (NYSE: CPU), America's largest computer superstore retailer, today announced that it plans to open three new superstores in February, which will increase its total to 40 stores in 27 markets from coast to coast.
The new stores include the relocation of the company's original computer superstore in the Atlanta market, a fifth superstore in the Los Angeles market, and the third superstore in the Florida market.
The company's first superstore, which was opened in April 1988 in the Atlanta suburb of Norcross, Ga., will be relocated to a 24,900- square-foot location in Duluth, Ga. The Deerfield Beach superstore, with 25,600 square feet of gross retail space, will be the second CompUSA location in the south Florida market. The 24,600-square-foot Woodland Hills CompUSA superstore will be the ninth location in California.
"There is enormous potential for growth of the computer superstore chain concept that we pioneered beginning with the Atlanta store," said Nathan Morton, president and chief executive officer of CompUSA. "We have many opportunities to fill back major markets where we already have a significant presence, as well as enter numerous new markets across America that will readily support a CompUSA location. We remain on plan to have 48 superstores open by the end of our current fiscal year this June.
"Whatever the size of the market, CompUSA will continue to follow the retailing philosophy that has made us one of the fastest-growing retailers in America," Morton added. "We are dedicated to providing our customers in every market with high levels of service, a wide selection of products and deep-discount prices."
CompUSA Computer Superstores offer more than 5,000 products, including microcomputer hardware, software, accessories and related items, at deep-discount prices to retail, business, government and institutional customers. The superstores also maintain full-service technical departments and classroom training facilities.
