CompTIA Network+ Certification Now Mandatory for AMC Corp. Desktop Techs.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- AMC Corporation, a New York-based global information technology services company, has made CompTIA Network+ certification a condition of employment for all of its desktop support technicians, CompTIA reported today.

"Nearly every PC at customer sites is connected to a LAN, WAN, or enterprise network," said Angel Pineiro, Jr., senior vice president of support services, AMC Corporation. "Requiring PC desktop support technicians to achieve a baseline level of network competency is the right thing to do for AMC, for its support services team, and for its customers."

Technicians earning CompTIA Network+ have demonstrated knowledge mastery equivalent to nine months experience in network administration and support as defined by a comprehensive job task analysis. CompTIA Network+ is vendor-neutral, meaning it covers technologies and best practices that are foundational and are applied industry-wide.

AMC support services personnel have until July 31st to earn CompTIA Network+ certification. Pineiro said that service technicians are responsible for comparing their skills with the requirements of the certification and identifying the study materials or training that will help them successfully prepare. AMC is funding the cost of training and certification. New employees must have CompTIA's PC hardware and operating systems certification A+, as well as Network+, to be considered for employment.

"There are two points to make about the AMC CompTIA Network+ requirement," Pineiro said. "Across the board, we are raising the network administration skills of our desktop support personnel to an industry standard and that will mean faster resolution of problems and higher overall productivity for our customers.
