The Computing Technology Industry Association See CompTIA.  (CompTIA) presented its CDIA See CompTIA. +(TM) annual awards on Monday to companies and individuals that have demonstrated a commitment to furthering the application of document imaging through an adherence to best practices and industry standards. CompTIA CDIA+ certification is a global standard of competency in the document imaging industry. This vendor-neutral certification validates an imaging professional's level of expertise in best practices used to plan, design, and implement a document imaging system. Leading hardware and software companies, as well as distributors, dealers, value-added resellers, and service providers, require or recommend their personnel be CDIA+ certified.

Business Imaging Systems designed and implemented a new accounts payable system based on document imaging and unstructured forms technology that cut Rent-A-Center invoice processing time in half for regular invoices and by up to 75 percent for invoices from high-volume suppliers. Labor costs were significantly reduced as was the cost of office supplies used to store files. The new automated document imaging system was so successful it is being replicated in 15 other departments where comparable time and cost savings are expected. Kristi Toupal, from Rent-A-Center, and Dan Rotelli, CDIA+, from Business Imaging Systems, accepted the System Integration Award.

) Lake Success, N.Y., received the Certification Achievement Award, Strongest Advocate for the CDIA+ Program. The company developed the Canon CDIA+ Education Program, which emphasizes the customer benefits of systems implemented to best-industry practices. The program is open to sales professionals at Canon and its authorized dealers.

Ricoh, U.S., West Caldwell, N.J., received the Certification Achievement Award, Industry Wide, by having the highest number of new CDIA+ certified professionals in a company. DoxTek, Inc., Provo, Utah, received the Certification Achievement Award, Reseller, for having the highest ratio of CDIA+ certified employees for a value-added reseller.

In addition, four imaging professionals were recognized for attaining the highest scores on the CDIA+ certification exam in the past 12 months: Jack Borland, Chicago, Ill.; Jim Harrison, Nashua, N.H.; Vito Mangiapane, Long Valley, N.J.; and Tim Pfeiffer, Denver, Colo.
