Comoros opposition leader arrested


The leader of the Comoros archipelago's opposition Ridja party, Said Larifou, was arrested by police Tuesday in the capital Moroni, an AFP (1) (AppleTalk Filing Protocol) The file sharing protocol used in an AppleTalk network. Larifou, who holds dual French and Comoran citizenship, was detained two days after openly criticising Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi (born 5 June 1958 in Mutsamudu, Anjouan Island, Comoros) is the current President of Comoros. He is a Comorian Islamic leader and politician. He is popularly known as 'Ayatollah'. After easily winning the 14 May elections with 58. , the president of the Comoros federation, during a political meeting on Sunday.

"He was detained for criticising the head of state," his lawyer Mohamed Baco told AFP. "He is currently in police custody and will face charges on Wednesday."
