Westminster Management, the property management affiliate of Kushner Companies, launched an extensive renovation at its 48-unit apartment building at 181 South Street in Morristown, N.J.

Constructed in 1920, the building is situated in the heart of Morristown's historic district on the corner of South and James Streets, within one mile of Inter state 287. Footes Pond and Ford Avenue municipal parks are in walking distance. Downtown Morristown's noted restaurants, cultural attractions and retail shopping are just minutes away. All of the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments currently are leased.

The company is repainting the lobby entryway and other common interior spaces, including the hallways and elevator. Additionally, new lighting has been installed; the marble floors and walls have been buffed; a new intercom system has been installed; and the entry doors will be replaced with heavy steel adorned with diamond-cut, beveled glass Beveled glass is usually made by taking one-quarter inch-thick clear glass and creating a one-inch bevel on one side around the entire periphery. To be called The Lovejoy Lofts, the $13 million project will feature 54 one- and two-bedroom residences, ranging in size from 870 to 1,360 square feet. Pre-construction prices are starting in the mid-S200,000 range.

The Lovejoy School is among Washington's limited supply of older buildings that can be converted into true lofts. Built in stages, the various sections date from 1900, the 1910s and 1920s.

Demonstrating its intent to be a good neighbor, Winter Properties has offered a $20,000 challenge grant to the property's neighbors to assist in converting a small tract of federally owned land adjacent the school into a neighborhood park.

Closed in the 1980s by the Washington D.C. School District, the old school had served as home of Washington's Children's Museum Children's museums are institutions that provide exhibits and programs that stimulate informal learning experiences for children. In contrast with traditional museums that typically have a hands-off policy regarding exhibits, children's museums feature interactive exhibits that are , school offices and ultimately as a storage facility. Winter, which purchased the buildings from the school district, has domed the interiors and has built one model condominium to serve as the sales center.

The 238-unit Hunter's Ridge Apartments, Winter Park, Fla., sold for $11,150,000. This apartment community was built in 1985. The average size for Hunter's Ridge is 825 square feet per unit. The sales price equates to $56.80 per square foot. The average rent was $667 per unit. The unit mix comprises 88 one-bedroom, one-bath units; 72 two-bedroom, one-bath units; and 78 two-bedroom, two-bath units.
