FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1996--The board of directors and stockholders of Framingham Savings Bank savings bank, financial institution that, until recently, performed only the following functions: receiving savings deposits of individuals, investing them, and providing a modest return to its depositors in the form of interest.  recently voted to change the name of the bank to MetroWest Bank, effective June 12, 1996.

Ted Valpey Jr., chairman of the board of the bank, "The MetroWest area has grown considerably over the past few years and a lot of exciting new businesses have emerged in MetroWest. But with all those recent big banks mergers, it's left a big gap for businesses in our area."

"Those big banks have certain rigid criteria to be met before they'll make a loan to a business. As a local community bank, we're much more flexible and we can review each business on a personal basis."

"MetroWest Bank is a community bank working to help the people and businesses in our communities. We can lend a more sympathetic ear to businesses," says Valpey. "We can approve loans locally and we're much more responsive than those giant banks."

Valpey cited MetroWest as a booming area for new and growing businesses. "Some of the most exciting and fastest growing businesses in America are located here, including Bose Corp., Staples staples
