 Foundation for Children has published a book on the use of community service in kindergarten kindergarten [Ger.,=garden of children], system of preschool education. Friedrich Froebel designed (1837) the kindergarten to provide an educational situation less formal than that of the elementary school but one in which children's creative play instincts would be  through 8th grade.

Kids Taking Action: Community Service Learning Projects, K-8 details 18 projects used in schools across the country and offers methods to tailor A tailor is a person whose occupation is to sew menswear style jackets and the skirts or trousers that go with them.

Although the term dates to the thirteenth century, tailor
 these activities to a teacher's own classroom. In addition, the book provides tips for beginning a community service program and highlights beneficial resources.
