) announced today the execution of a definitive agreement to acquire Phoenixville Hospital, a 143-bed acute general hospital owned and operated by the University of Pennsylvania Health System The University of Pennsylvania Health System is a diverse research and clinical care organization in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that operates under the direction and auspices of the University of Pennsylvania, its umbrella organization Penn Medicine and the University of . Phoenixville is located approximately 30 miles west of Philadelphia and 35 miles east of Reading, Pennsylvania Reading (IPA:/ˈrɛdɪŋ/) is the county seat of Berks County, Pennsylvania and the center of the Greater Reading Area. . The acquisition is subject to federal and state regulatory approvals and is expected to close as soon as practicable after the approvals are obtained. The acquisition includes a 95,000 square foot medical complex in nearby Limerick Limerick, city, Republic of Ireland
