Community Health Network Expands Strategic Relationship with GE Healthcare; All-Digital Network to Implement GE's Centricity Enterprise Solution.

BARRINGTON, Ill. -- GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) and a leading provider of information technology solutions, announced today that Community Health Network, a major health care provider in Indianapolis, has selected GE's Centricity[R] Enterprise (formerly IDX[R] Carecast[TM]) Solution, an integrated clinical, financial and administrative solution that helps streamline workflow and improve productivity across the continuum of care. This latest implementation is part of Community Health Network's ongoing relationship with GE in an effort to create comprehensive digital medical records from which doctors can use information for more informed treatment decisions.

In 2003, Community Health Network unveiled The Indiana Heart Hospital, the world's first all-digital hospital, which later served as a prototype for other digital healthcare facilities. Last year the network announced implementation plans to digitize its Anderson, Indiana facility, which together with the already digitized Community Hospital East, Community Hospital North, Community Hospital South and THE Indiana Heart Hospital, make Community Health Network a completely digital integrated delivery network.

The Institute of Medicine recently reported that at least 1.5 million Americans are sickened, injured or killed each year by avoidable errors in prescribing, dispensing and taking medications.

Additionally, integrating these advanced clinical capabilities with financial management tools helps to make billing more accurate and efficient. Through Centricity Enterprise clinicians can capture charges as a by product of the clinical documentation process and then provide this billing information, along with personal and scheduling information to patients via a web-based portal. Together, these integrated clinical, financial and administrative tools will help customers provide a smoother experience for patients.
