Community Foundation awards scholarships.

The Greater Worcester Community Foundation has awarded $506,442 in scholarships to 357 Worcester County Worcester County is the name of several counties in the United States of America:
  • Worcester County, Maryland
  • Worcester County, Massachusetts
 students for the 2009-2010 academic year.

A record 670 applications were submitted.

Foundation staff recruited 147 community volunteers for selection committees to make awards based on specific criteria, such as ethnicity, town of residence, high school, field of study, financial need and academic achievement. More than $126,000 will go to support students attending Worcester colleges. Approximately 60 percent of the 357 awards were renewals of scholarships granted the previous year.

Recipients of scholarships from Wachusett Regional High School Wachusett Regional High School (abbv. WRHS) is located in Holden, Massachusetts and services the Wachusett Regional School District founded in 1955. The WRSD comprises Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, and Sterling. :
