Community Catalysts to Create Affordable Housing Model for San Diego Disabled.


SAN DIEGO San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  -- Community Catalysts, a non-profit agency that has served individuals with developmental and other disabilities for over 25 years, announced today they are spearheading an affordable housing pilot project in the San Diego area.

Under the direction of his Board of Directors, Jenkins is searching for an existing, small multifamily complex which could be renovated and made accessible for their disabled clients and other special needs individuals. If the model proves successful, Community Catalysts would seek to replicate it throughout its service areas.

"Housing is a fundamental element of integration and independence. Our Board recognizes this need and has dedicated $200,000 as seed money to begin the process," continued Jenkins.
