Coast Regional Center, announced that Community Catalysts of California has been selected to provide services to the residents of Seneca Estates, a licensed adult residential facility providing a supportive living environment. The home located on Plum Street Plum Street is a neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan, roughly the area today bounded by Michigan Avenue, the Lodge Freeway, and the Fisher Freeway. The community gained wide notice in the late 1960s as hub of art, rock 'n' roll, anti-war, drug and hippie activity. will serve up to six adults who need support in developing coping strategies The German Freudian psychoanalyst Karen Horney defined four so-called coping strategies to define interpersonal relations, one describing psychologically healthy individuals, the others describing neurotic states. for effective self-control; developing ways to effectively communicate their needs, wishes and thoughts; and/or require significant assistance and supervision in self-care and personal safety. Additionally they will receive emotional support, inclusive community opportunities and ongoing medical support. Community Catalysts of California will take a "whole person" approach, which incorporates the behavioral, mental, physical, and social components of each individual's overall health and well being. It is essential that the home collaborate in an active manner with day/work services and other community agencies so that support is consistent between all entities that are involved in the support of each person. The home will be administered by JoAnn Holiday, the Ukiah Program Leader of Community Catalysts of California. She and Wendy Forkas, Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO) The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president. of Community Catalysts of California, co-authored the successful proposal. Community Catalysts of California is a private nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive. "We have been helping people living with disabilities in Ukiah for six years. Our goal has been to help them reach their highest level of self-sufficiency and live successfully in the community. We are enthusiastic about bringing our skills and experience to this new project," Ms. Holiday said.
