The stations' Community Advisory Boards have instituted the honor to recognize exemplary efforts in the fields of the arts, culture, education, and social concerns that are related to the stations' programming and/or to the stations' mission to educate, enlighten and inform. The induction ceremony was presided over by Dr. William F. Baker Dr. William F. Baker has been the Chief Executive of the Educational Broadcasting Corporation since 1987. The EBC is the parent company of PBS station's WLIW and flagship PBS station WNET/Thirteen. Baker received his B.A., M.A. and Ph. The Tri-State Community Advisory Board, comprised of 30 members reflective of the diverse interests and needs of the New York region, collaborates with the station to expand the reach of Thirteen's programming, educational activities and outreach initiatives. The role of the 19-member WLIW Community Advisory Board is to advise the Long Island Educational T.V. Council with respect to the programming and other policies of the station to meet the specialized educational and cultural needs of the communities it serves.
