The LWVUS LWVUS League of Women Voters of the United States  has been active on topics ranging from women's suffrage The term women's suffrage refers to an economic and political reform movement aimed at extending suffrage — the right to vote — to women. The movement's origins are usually traced to the United States in the 1820s.  history and voter outreach to presidential debates and public financing of campaigns. The office has sent out numerous press releases and the League has had coverage in several papers nationwide. Among these is a League op-ed by President Kay J. Maxwell "Do Your Part, Check the Box for Democracy," which was distributed to media and all Leagues; to date it has been printed in three newspapers. There also have been media interviews featuring LWVUS President Kay Maxwell, Executive Director Nancy Tate, Advocacy Director Lloyd Leonard and Communications Director Kelly Ceballos on subjects such as women in politics and campaign finance reform Campaign finance reform is the common term for the political effort in the United States to change the involvement of money in politics, primarily in political campaigns. .
