Communication technicians. (Special Report: Sudbury).


Mine Site Technologies, the largest supplier of mine communication and remote blasting products, is in the process of setting up an office in Sudbury, Ontario.

Hence positions are available. Though not essential, experience in the following would be helpful:

* Worked with underground communication systems, such as VHF/UHF Leaky Feeder A leaky feeder is a communications system used in underground mining and other tunnel environments. It consists of a cable run along drivages which emits and receives radio waves.  and PED n. 1. A basket; a hammer; a pannier.  ultra low frequency The Ultra Low Frequency (ULF) is the frequency range between 300 hertz and 3 kilohertz. Many types of waves in the ULF frequency band can be observed in the magnetosphere and on the ground. These waves represent important physical processes in the near-Earth plasma environment. .

* VHF/UHF/Spread Spectrum Radio Programming.

* Telemetry telemetry

Highly automated communications process by which data are collected from instruments located at remote or inaccessible points and transmitted to receiving equipment for measurement, monitoring, display, and recording.
 and automation.

* Tagging and tracking systems.

* Fiber Optics fiber optics, transmission of digitized messages or information by light pulses along hair-thin glass fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber  and other data highways.

Applicants should possess a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, a willingness to work underground & a desire to develop their career. Training will be provided where required.

Though based in Sudbury, the applicant must be prepared to travel widely in Ontario and Quebec, and further where necessary. A current driver's license is essential.
