(Anti-Spam Adaptive Protection) Service Center has detected more than 4,000 unique spam blasts linked to the topic of Mother's Day, with each blast reaching anywhere from 100,000 to tens of millions of e-mail users.

Commtouch's ASAP! Service Center detects new spam attacks as soon as they are launched across the Internet. The Service Center provides real-time spam detection services by collecting information from multiple sources about new spam attacks, analyzing the input using Commtouch's patent-pending technology, identifying and detecting spam, classifying the data, matching its stored information against outstanding queries for spam detection and replying with a prioritized and accurate resolution - all within 300 milliseconds. In the period May 1-6 this year, the Service Center identified 4,129 unique attacks related to Mother's Day themes.

Commtouch is makings its findings available to Professor Lawrence Lessig at Stanford University, who is publicly supporting the federal anti-spam "bounty" legislation proposed by Rep Zoe Lofgren (D, San Jose).
