Commonwealth Games 2002: Swimming: Aussie blast at rival Goddard.


JAMES GODDARD'S triumph in the 200m backstroke was tainted last night by a bitter swipe from Aussie rival Matt Welsh Matthew ("Matt") Welsh (born November 18, 1976 in Melbourne, Victoria) is an Australian swimmer who is the world champion in the backstroke and butterfly. Matt currently trains under coach Ian Pope at the Melbourne Vicentre Club. .

Favourite Welsh cast a shadow over Goddard's shock victory when he complained bitterly about his disqualification dis·qual·i·fi·ca·tion

The Aussie said: "There was nothing wrong with what I did and it is not right that I was kicked out of the event.
