Commons meeting to back tourism.

NORTH Wales' politicians and tourism chiefs held a top level meeting at the House of Commons House of Commons: see Parliament.  to discuss how to attract more visitors to the region.

Following an invitation from the North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  Group of Labour MPs, representatives from Virgin and Arriva Trains, Stena Line, Rhyl Sea life Centre, Visit Wales, Visit Britain, Tourism Partnership North Wales and the North Wales Hotel Group met to look at the potential for maximising tourism.

"With the economic downturn, more people are looking to take holidays in the UK," said Vale of Clwyd MP Chris Ruane.

"It is important that North Wales, which has so much to offer, is in the best position possible to take advantage of this."

The MPs agreed to try to secure a House of Commons debate on tourism to discuss issues such as marketing, communication and funding.
