Thomas, 40, had to be restrained by police using pepper spray after arguing with a fellow guest. He allegedly punched a policeman and split his lip after he was challenged close to the main chamber, where MPs were holding a debate on Africa. Proceedings were not disrupted. Thomas, who had been at a reception hosted by Tory chairman Eric Pickles, was released on bail yesterday after being held overnight.
