Committee targets 2004 to bring ship back to Thunder Bay.


The committee working to bring the SS Keewatin The SS Keewatin is a passenger liner that once sailed between Port Arthur / Fort William and Port McNicoll.  back to Thunder Bay Thunder Bay, city (1991 pop. 113,946), SW Ont., Canada, on Thunder Bay inlet of Lake Superior. The city was created in 1970 by the amalgamation of the twin cities of Fort William and Port Arthur and two adjoining townships.  by summer 2003 has pushed its target date to 2004. A city councillor with the committee says the initial timeline was .not achievable and committee members are still trying to work out a conditional agreement with the owner of the steamship.

Earlier this year, city council budgetted $20,000 towards the initiative, and the committee has spent approximately $2,300 to date.
