Committee set up for implementation on CII recommendations fails to meet.

ISLAMABAD, October 13, 2009 (Balochistan Times): The eight members Committee set up for the implementation on the recommendations of Council for Islamic Ideology (CII) has failed to hold its first ever meeting despite the clear directives of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. According to details, JUI-F Ameer Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman had threatened to quit as coalition partner in government two months ago if government failed to ensure implementation on the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology by 30th September 2009. However, JUI-F extended its deadline after intervention of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, President Asif Ali Zardari and other political influentails. JUI-F and government agreed to form eight-member committee for the implementation of recommendations presented by the Council for Islamic Ideology (CII), which comprised of eight members; four from each JUI-F and Government. These members include Federal Minister Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Khurshid Shah, Babar Awan, and Raja Pervez Ashraf while from JUI-F side Maulana Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, Federal Minister Sher Azam Swati and Mufti Muhammad Khan Ajmal. The Committee failed to summon its first ever meeting despite passing of period of two weeks. Spokesman JUI-F, Maulana Muhammad Amjad while talking to reporter said that it was clear advise of the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to the Committee to start its work as early as possible. He said that postponement of meeting was highly regrettable, and hoped that it will meet as soon as possible in order to review CII recommendations and present these recommendations prepared in the light of 1973 constitution to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. Later on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will tabled these recommendations in the Parliament House.
