Commetrex announces T.38 interoperability lab. (Breaking News).


Commetrex Corporation, a developer and licensor of fax-related technologies, has announced the opening of a Commetrex-sponsored ITU (International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, www.itu.ch) A telecommunications standards body that is under the auspices of the United Nations. Comprising more than 185 member countries, the ITU sets standards for global telecom networks.  T.38-fax relay interoperability The capability of two or more hardware devices or two or more software routines to work harmoniously together. For example, in an Ethernet network, display adapters, hubs, switches and routers from different vendors must conform to the Ethernet standard and interoperate with each other.  testing lab. The company is offering testing to all equipment developers interested in achieving industrywide in·dus·try·wide

 interoperability of T.38. The service is free of charge. T.38 specifies a protocol for the transport of fax in real-time over IP networks. With T.38, end users can send a fax from a PSTN-connected fax terminal. The connection traverses the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) The worldwide voice telephone network. Once only an analog system, the heart of most telephone networks today is all digital. In the U.S.  to a gateway that supports T.38. From there, the fax travels over, an IP network to a compatible terminal also supporting T.38. Then, the fax can be terminated in an IP-media server or relayed to a corresponding PSTN-receiving fax terminal. Commetrex is offering to work with any developer to achieve interoperability between Commetrex' Terminating T.38 product and any other T.38-based system.
