Commerzbank Securities to Introduce New Fund-of-Hedge Funds Product -- COMAS Plus.Business Editors FRANKFURT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2001 The Alternative Investment Strategies (AIS) unit of Commerzbank Securities is preparing to launch its third fund-of-hedge funds product--"COMAS Plus"--in the autumn with special features specifically designed for institutional and other sophisticated investors in Europe. Commerzbank Securities' AIS unit was the first to offer German investors a fund-of-hedge funds-related product in February 2000 with its COMAS I Certificate. In February 2001, the AIS unit launched a follow-up product, COMAS II, continuing the rigorous absolute return investment strategy of COMAS I, which has performed very well since inception. COMAS Plus will offer investors monthly liquidity, and Commerzbank Securities plans to support the product with market-making to provide the possibility of intra-month exit from the product. In addition, COMAS Plus will provide exposure to a portfolio of hedge funds hedge fund, in finance, a highly speculative, largely unregulated investment device. Originating in the 1950s, the funds "hedge" by offsetting "short" positions (borrowing a security and then selling it at a higher price before repaying the lender) against "long" pursuing absolute return and net directional strategies, such as long/short funds.
